I'm finally back on my feet as of yesterday after days spent prostrate. Yay for my body's ability to always forgive me my treacherous ways.
So, what's been going on around here, at The Homestead?
Well, as it's absolutely freezing outside right now, I jumped right into my plan of creating a 'warm' room downstairs that could be easily and economically heated while we get through the bitter cold of a Mojave winter. I went out and bought some new carpet which was installed the same day courtesy of my friend at the carpet store. I washed the walls and windows and hung new curtains. Today, I will bring in the TV and media stand, the speakers and the receiver. I'm going out to buy two new leather chairs today. We have nothing comfortable to sit in and, yes, I am going to spend about $350 on two new armchairs. I am going to Craigslist the worn chairs we currently use to offset cost a bit. The chairs that I'll be buying should last quite a while.
And then. And then I am going to hole up in that room until Spring LOL
I completed my real estate broker's renewal requirements and am, once again, a licensed California broker.
Change is afoot for me.
I must get out of the house.
I must forgive myself for past mistakes and the sh*tstorm that has followed for the past 16 years in particular.
I need to 'get a life'. I've been too cozy/lazy/unmotivated for the past 4 years and I need to get back out there again. Whether this takes the form of real estate or something else, I have yet to determine. Either way, I need to get back to work.
The spouse now has less than 3 years to retirement.
The kids are making excellent grades at college.
I'm taking the rest of the year off from blogging to focus on the 2 weeks I have at home with the spouse. Unless, of course, I have to vent!!! We have a lot to talk about and some reconnecting to do. The divorce word was thrown around last weekend but I don't think (at this point) that either of us is willing to sacrifice the years we have together. The loss would be a heavy load indeed to bear so we are going to strengthen our relationship and get back to where we were when we first met. Once the kids are off our hands, things are really going to change.
Anyway, I'll be back in January 2013 with goals and reflections. Until then, stay safe my friends. Have a happy Xmas holiday season, don't overeat (!) and I wish you all the best for the upcoming New Year.

You've been trying to run a business on the side. I think you've been working for a while, maybe you're thinking of increasing the intensity.
But that's my thoughts. Good luck, hope you'll do well.
Thanks everyone :) Here's to a happy and healthy 2013 to all of us. May we march onward and upward, take it all in stride as we strive for peace and balance.
